Cave of the Winds

Easily located at 100 Cave of the Winds Rd, Cave of The Winds Mountain Park is a wonderful sight to see that also sports an entertainment center, which hosts many attractions, caves, and canyons to explore. While brothers George and John Pickett founded Mountain Park in 1881, thousands of years ago, the Jicarilla Apaches lived near the caves, where the indigenous tribe believed The Great Spirit of The Wind to reside.

The Cave of The Winds boasts caves reaching as high as 7,000 feet. It offers the Discovery Tour, a 45-60 minute tour that explores the history and geology of the caves; the Haunted Lantern Tour, which includes ghost stories; and the Specialty Tours, which include a cave expedition and spelunking.

The Cave of The Winds also neighbors the Williams Canyon, where you can find attractions like the Wind Walker Challenge, Bat-A-Pult, and the Cliffhanger Climbing Wall. There are also many more children’s activities between the outdoor fun and the gift shop, including The Caver’s Crawl and gemstone panning.
