The Newborn Experience
When you step into my newborn studio, your family will immediately feel at ease. The beautifully styled sunroom looks more like a home than a bare backdrop. It's as cozy and bright as a favorite room in your own house. It's the perfect space to capture your baby's features and your family's connection with minimal distractions. You'll also find a separate spacious fitting room filled with dresses for you, outfits for babies and children, and even some shirts for dad (hello, time and money savings). These rooms and more are part of my home-based studio in Castle Rock, CO, and I am so grateful to share this designated professional space with you!

1. Say Hello
To provide the best experience for each family, I take a limited number of newborns each month. We’ll reserve your spot with just your due date, and once baby arrives, you’ll reach out to schedule your actual session—most take place on weekdays at 10 AM.
Some families prefer those first couple of weeks when baby is extra sleepy, fresh, and both parents are home. Others like to allow more time for mama’s recovery and siblings to adjust. Waiting until five weeks or older can even bring sweet moments of newborn eye contact! Whatever timing feels right for your family, we’ll create a beautiful session to capture this fleeting season.
2. BOOK it
Once your session is booked, you’ll receive all my planning materials to make the process as seamless and stress-free as possible.
I’ll share a link to my client closet so you can browse and send me any favorites you’d like to try. You’re also welcome to visit the studio beforehand to meet me and preview the wardrobe in person. With all the changes your body is going through, this helps ensure you feel confident in your choices and have the right undergarments ready.
Two weeks before your due date, I’ll send over the prep guide again—along with a little reminder to let me know when baby arrives!
3. Planning it
When you arrive at the studio, feel free to settle in and get comfortable. You’ll have access to a private fitting room, where your pre-selected wardrobe will be steamed and ready to go.
As we move through the session, I’ll follow baby’s lead—starting with beautifully wrapped poses (so good you might take notes), followed by natural beanbag moments, sibling snuggles, parent one-on-ones, and plenty of full-family love.
Need to pause for a feeding? No problem! A full belly makes for a happy baby (and siblings). We’ll also keep the sunroom warm and filled with soft white noise to create the most soothing environment for everyone.
4. Your Session
After your session, I’ll curate the best images into an online proof gallery, where you’ll choose your favorites for me to hand-edit and beautifully retouch.
With a fully customizable package, you only invest in the images you truly love—ensuring you receive a collection that feels just right for you!
5. Your Photographs

My sessions always include digital images with every package. You'll also have exclusive, discounted access to my professional print lab. Your family photography will be passed on for generations, no matter how you choose to store and display it.

I always feel like it's such chaos during the photos as we have two toddlers but Alyssum always manages to capture so many incredible shots that are truly reflective of this season of our lives. Our sessions with Alyssum are very relaxed, fuss-free and joyful while doing something that could be so much more stressful for mom and dad. In all honesty I dread family photos, but they were a breeze with Alyssum. We have one child diagnosed with autism and she did great at getting those rare shots of eye contact. I was also impressed with her ability to hold her camera and catch our son who jumped right in the water. She is extremely patient and I appreciate her willingness to get on our children’s level.

Alyssum is an AMAZING photographer. I just moved to the area a couple years ago and we had been flying back to California to have our photos taken with our long time photographer. I’m very picky and finding a good one is hard!! A few of our neighbors had used her and I LOVED her work. She is so talented and captures families so well. So glad we used her and will continue to do so. Already can’t wait for our next session. BUT, when you see her sessions come available you must book ASAP cuz she’ll sell out like that day!
