The Family Experience
I have a lot of fun getting to know people! My main goal is to transfer that welcoming and fun attitude to my client - so you feel at ease and your family walks away loving your experience.
When you book your session, I will send over a questionnaire for new clients or for any family who I need an update on. I want to get to know your family, learn everyone’s names, and read about your favorite qualities of your children. By asking your hobbies and what you like to do together as a family, it’ll allow me to suggest some great locations for your session that fit your family well. It’ll also help me keep the conversation going to make your family feel as comfortable as possible. Gathering these details will help me capture the connection and tell a story through images.

I believe that getting your photos taken should be fun. I know it can be stressful to figure out what to wear, but I can take the stress out of that for you and share ideas with the help of Style & Select and my client closet.
Then it’s nothing but you and your family making magic in front of a beautiful backdrop with beautiful light. When I have dads say to me, “Wow, that wasn’t bad at all!” after a session, I know we had success.
It doesn’t matter if your kids aren’t interested in my camera, but it’s important that I keep your family close together while you keep your children engaged in fun! This can mean tickling your little guy, or seeing how he can pile up and hug on Daddy. It can also mean allowing him to play in the grass and pick weeds! Or maybe your little girl just wants to be held. I’m there to document that for you!
1. have fun
Once we get a few traditional shots with everyone looking at the camera, that’s your cue to relax. You are hiring me because of my ability to capture your family in a beautiful, authentic way. This means allowing the child to naturally explore what he or she wants. When we let the child lead the way, they will naturally be motivated to interact and play, and this helps to bring out natural expressions from the child as well.
If your child is particularly challenging or doesn’t really show interest in typical family engagement, maybe there is something that you know he or she will like and we can plan an activity in advance.
2. Follow your child's lead
We don’t always know ahead of time what your child will be interested in, but allow the activities to naturally unfold! Climb rocks, splash water, smell flowers, walk the fallen log. I'm here for it all!
I love the way your family gets together and enjoys what they are doing. Keeping yourselves close in proximity will help keep you engaged in each other.

My sessions always include digital images with every package. You'll also have exclusive, discounted access to my professional print lab. Your family photography will be passed on for generations, no matter how you choose to store and display it.

1. Say Hello
Once you've decided whether you'll be booking a single session or the multi-session membership, we'll get your family photography session on the calendar!
I have a convenient, live booking link for you view all of my available dates so you can choose the best option. You'll also notice a start time attached to each date! This is approximately 1 hour before sunset, which we might adjust earlier depending on your session location and family needs.
2. Schedule it
Once booked, you'll begin to receive all of my planning materials to make this process as stress-free as possible.
I invite you to come into the studio to meet me ahead of time and have a fitting with my client closet.
If coming in before your session doesn't fit your schedule, you can view my client closet through Style & Select and send me your picks. This tool also allows you to shop for other items you might like to purchase online separately.
3. Planning it
Relax and let's have some fun! I swear the hardest part is just getting everyone clean and in the car. It's all easy after that!
Feel confident in the fact that I will give you just enough prompts and direction to help your family's natural interaction unfold.
I only ask that you be present with your family so I can capture you in a way that will bring a heartfelt reaction when you look at your images.
4. Your Session
After your session, I will gather the best images together in an online proof gallery. You will then select the images that you'd like me to hand edit and include in your fully retouched gallery.
Based on your favorites, you get to select which digital image package is best for you and add on any artwork. Your package is fully customizable, which means you only purchase what you'll treasure!
5. Your Photographs
Through crankiness, diaper changes, and kiddo unpredictability, Alyssum is kind, thoughtful, patient, and plays and laughs along with my kids AND somehow manages to capture the most perfect pictures! I will never use another photographer to capture my family photos!!

The photos and moments Alyssum captures are SO incredibly beautiful! I always feel like it's such chaos during the photos as we have two toddlers but Alyssum always manages to capture so many incredible shots that are truly reflective of this season of our lives. Which is exactly the reason we choose Alyssum as our family photographer -- to capture these exact moments!! We did a newborn session in studio with Alyssum. It was one of the best photography experiences we’ve ever had. Her studio is very comfortable and her client closet is amazing. There are so many options, you’re sure to find something you feel and look great in. My husband is not a huge fan of getting photos taken but he also felt very comfortable. Alyssum was great with our newborn son and 2.5 year old daughter and took some gorgeous photos. Due to medical reasons we had to keep putting off scheduling our session and Alyssum was accommodating and understanding. Everything about the experience was easy which I appreciated so much. And we ended up with photos that I will treasure forever. We highly recommend Alyssum!

Alyssum is truly the best!! From maternity photos, to newborn photos of both of our babies, and family photos in between, we are always blown away with the photos!! She truly captures the moment and the special times in our lives like no one else. We cherish our photos so much!!!

We have used Alyssum twice now for photos and she does such an amazing job!!! Her work is absolute perfection. She is also very easy going and fun to work with. Our son isn't a fan of strangers or being put in the spotlight and she really was so good and gentle with knowing how to engage him in photos. Both times we have gotten our photos back she somehow manages to capture even more perfect moments than I even thought occurred in the shoot which is such a blessing when you have a toddler and newborn to work with! She is the definition of you get what you pay for, actually her services are worth even more in my opinion. I would 100% recommend her to anyone.
